Job Summary:

The Simulator Technician is responsible for the day-to-day serviceability, operational readiness, and technical upkeep of flight simulation training devices (FSTDs) including FFS and FTDs. This includes performing routine maintenance, assisting with QTG runs, troubleshooting faults, and supporting simulator sessions under the supervision of the Simulator Head of Maintenance or Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Simulator Maintenance & Support
  • Perform daily pre-flight and post-flight simulator readiness checks.
  • Execute scheduled preventive and scheduled maintenance as per OEM guidelines and simulator manuals.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in simulator systems (avionics, motion, visual, sound, and control loading).
  • Support QTG runs, simulator grading preparation and regulatory evaluations in coordination with the Head of Maintenance and Quality Manager
  1. Technical Operations
  • Coordinate with Simulator Engineers for configuration control during updates and modifications.
  • Ensure proper functioning of associated systems (briefing/debriefing stations, CBT/TMS hardware, networks).
  • Monitor and maintain spares, consumables, and tools inventory.
  • Record all maintenance activities in logbooks, CMMS, and regulatory records.
  • Monitor and verify visual, motion, and instructor operating station (IOS) functionality.
  • Support hardware replacements and software patch installations.
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with DGCA CAR 7D/VI, OEM standards, and international best practices (EASA CS-FSTD, FAA Part 60).
  • Report technical incidents, downtime events, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Follow Blue Angels Air’s Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Adhere to simulator safety protocols including emergency power-off (EPO), motion safety zones, and fire systems.
  1. Operational Readiness & Support
  • Provide on-call support during simulator training hours (including nights/weekends).
  • Assist instructors and trainees with technical queries during sessions.
  • Escalate persistent issues to OEM/vendor support teams in coordination with the Head of Maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

Mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Avionics, Electrical, IT, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 4+ years’ hands-on experience in simulator or avionics/electrical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting electronics, hydraulics, motion platforms, and computer networks.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience with Airbus A320 FFS or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (DGCA, FAA, or EASA FSTD).
  • IT/networking certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft) or motion/visual systems expertise.
