Job Summary:

The Simulator Head of Maintenance is responsible for the overall technical management, availability, compliance, and lifecycle support of all flight simulation training devices (FSTDs) including Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and Flight Training Devices (FTD). The role includes leading the simulator engineering team, coordinating with OEM, ensuring DGCA audit readiness, and maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with DGCA CAR, OEM Manuals & International Regulatory Standards.
  • Ensure adherence to QTG schedules and support DGCA grading or audits.
  • Liaise with DGCA inspectors, auditors, and certification teams during QTG runs, approvals, and periodic audits.
  1. Technical Management
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of simulators, visual systems, motion platforms, and CBT/TMS-linked hardware.
  • Plan and execute maintenance schedules to ensure simulator 95%+ uptime/availability.
  • Implement reliability monitoring systems and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Lead fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and vendor escalation with OEMs (Airbus, SIM International, ASTROM, etc.).
  1. Leadership & Team Development
  • Manage, train, and mentor the Simulator Maintenance Engineers and Technicians.
  • Establish a strong Safety & Quality culture within the maintenance team.
  • Ensure 24/7 support coverage through proper shift and standby planning.
  1. Strategic & Operational Contribution
  • Support installation, calibration, and acceptance of simulator upgrades or modifications.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and CAPEX planning for maintenance infrastructure.
  1. Safety & Risk Management
  • Conduct regular risk assessments on simulator operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Blue Angels Air’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Report and investigate technical incidents or simulator downtime events.

Required Qualifications:

Mandatory
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in maintaining Level D simulators or Airline/MRO Technical Management.
  • Familiarity with CAE, MPS, L3, Sim International or equivalent simulator systems.
  • Strong Knowledge of DGCA/EASA Simulator Regulations and OEM maintenance practices including QTG & MQTG requirements.
  • Proven leadership in managing maintenance teams.
Preferred:
  • Experience in setting up new ATO facility or managing multiple simulators.
  • Previous post as a DGCA Approved Head of Maintenance (ATO), or equivalent authority position.
